We use as few cookies as we can. No tool on this site requires one to function.

What we set

Strictly necessary

  • toolosea_session — set only when you submit a form, and used to protect that submission against cross-site request forgery. It is not set when you simply browse or use a tool. Expires when you close your browser.
  • toolosea_consent — records whether you agreed to analytics, so we do not ask on every visit. Kept for 180 days. Set only once you answer.

Preferences

  • ts-theme — your light or dark choice. This is stored in your browser local storage, not a cookie, and is never transmitted to us.

Analytics

Any analytics cookie is set only after you agree. Until then our Content-Security-Policy does not even permit the analytics provider to load, so declining is enforced by your browser rather than left to our own code to honour.

Bot protection on the tools that make an external lookup

A small number of tools answer your question by querying a paid data service — the Network lookups, and a few elsewhere that work the same way, such as the currency converter. They are the only pages here that cost us money each time they are used. Those pages — and no others — carry a Cloudflare Turnstile check to stop automated scripts running that bill up, and Turnstile may store a short-lived value in your browser so that it does not have to challenge you repeatedly.

Each tool states how it works in the notice directly beneath it, so you can see which pages these are rather than having to take our word for it.

It is set by Cloudflare rather than by us. It carries no advertising identifier, is not used to follow you between websites, and is not shared with anyone. Unlike analytics, it is not gated behind your consent choice: it is a security measure needed to deliver a service you asked for, and making it optional would mean the tools could be used freely by exactly the automated traffic it exists to stop. Our privacy policy explains that reasoning in full.

Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing so will not break any tool — at most, the site will forget your theme and ask about analytics again.

Changing your mind

To withdraw consent, clear this site cookies in your browser. The banner will reappear on your next visit and you can decline.
