About the Lorem Ipsum Generator
Generate placeholder text in the amount and shape you actually need: whole paragraphs for a page mockup, a fixed number of words for a meta description test, single sentences for form labels, or list items for a navigation prototype.
Output comes as plain text, as HTML wrapped in <p> or <li> tags ready to paste into a template, or as Markdown. Sentence and paragraph lengths vary the way real prose does — uniform blocks are the giveaway that makes generated filler look wrong in a layout, and defeat the point of testing a design against realistic copy.
The vocabulary is the genuine Cicero-derived word list every lorem ipsum draws from, so the text has the texture designers recognise and nobody mistakes it for real copy. By default it opens with the standard Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet line, which you can turn off when you want the placeholder to be less recognisable in a client presentation.

Frequently asked questions
What is lorem ipsum and where does it come from?
It is scrambled Latin drawn from Cicero's De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, written in 45 BC. Typesetters have used it since the 1500s because it has the letter distribution and word lengths of real Latin prose without being readable, so people judge the layout instead of reading the copy.
Why not just use "text text text" as placeholder copy?
Because repeated words produce an unnaturally even texture, and a design that looks fine against them can fall apart against real sentences of varying length. Lorem ipsum gives you realistic word and sentence variation, which is the whole reason it survived the move from metal type to screens.
Can I generate an exact number of words?
Yes. Choose Words as the unit and enter the number. That is the mode to use when you are testing a character or word limit — a meta description, a product summary field or a fixed-height card in a grid.
Does the HTML output need cleaning before I paste it?
No. Paragraph mode emits one properly closed paragraph tag per block and list mode emits a complete unordered list with indented items, so both drop straight into a template. The text itself is HTML-escaped, so nothing in it can break the surrounding markup.
Does this send anything to a server?
No. The word list and the generator both live in the page, so nothing is transmitted and nothing is logged. The tool keeps working if you disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
