About the Rotate PDF

Turn the pages of a PDF and save the rotation permanently into the file. Rotate a whole document at once, or name just the pages that came out sideways. The work happens inside this page on your own device — nothing is uploaded, and there is no account or watermark.

This is the fix for the most common scanning problem: a stack fed through at the wrong orientation, or a mixed document where a few landscape tables sit inside a portrait report. Viewers let you turn a page on screen, but that is a temporary view setting — close the file and it is sideways again, and anyone you send it to sees the original. Saving the rotation into the document is what actually fixes it, for every reader and every printer.

Rotation is added to whatever a page already has, which matters more than it sounds. A page already stored at 90° that you turn another 90° ends at 180°. Tools that overwrite the existing value instead appear to do nothing to exactly the pages that most needed fixing, and the result is a document that is still wrong in a way you only notice after sending it.

Nothing is re-rendered. A PDF stores rotation as a property of the page rather than by redrawing it, so text stays selectable, images keep their resolution and the file size barely moves. You can add several PDFs at once and rotate them all in one pass.

How to use the Rotate PDF

  1. Add your PDFs

Drop one or more files onto the box or click to choose them. Every file in the set is rotated with the same settings.

  2. Choose the rotation

Pick 90 degrees clockwise, 180 degrees for an upside-down page, or 90 degrees anticlockwise. The angle is added to whatever rotation a page already carries.

  3. Choose which pages

Leave the box empty to rotate everything. To fix only some pages, type their numbers and ranges — for example 2, 5-7.

  4. Rotate and download

Press Rotate PDF. Each result shows the angle applied and how many pages it affected, then downloads as an ordinary PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is the rotation saved permanently into the file?

Yes. The rotation is written into the document itself, so every reader, printer and phone shows the page the right way up. That is different from turning a page inside a viewer, which is only a temporary view setting that is lost when you close the file and is never seen by anyone you send it to.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Rotation happens entirely inside your browser on your own device, and no file is sent to a server. You can disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and the tool will carry on working exactly as before.

Can I rotate only some pages?

Yes. Leave the pages box empty to turn the whole document, or type the specific page numbers and ranges you want, such as 2, 5-7. That is the usual case for a scanned report where only the wide tables came out sideways while the rest is fine.

Will rotating reduce quality or make the file bigger?

Neither. A PDF records rotation as a property of the page rather than by redrawing its contents, so nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed. Text stays selectable, images keep their exact resolution, and the file size changes by only a few bytes.

What happens to pages that are already rotated?

The angle you choose is added to the rotation the page already has, so a page stored at 90 degrees that you turn another 90 ends up at 180. This is deliberate — tools that overwrite the existing value appear to do nothing to precisely the pages that were already wrong, which is a mistake you tend to discover after sending the document.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

Not directly, since an encrypted document must be decrypted before its pages can be modified. Remove the password first with our Unlock PDF tool and then rotate the result. The tool names the protected file rather than failing without saying why.
