Split PDF
Split a PDF into separate files or pull out just the pages you need. Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, with no sign-up and no watermark.

About the Split PDF
Take one PDF and turn it into the pages or sections you actually need. Pull a single signed page out of a long contract, break a scanned book into one file per page, or cut a report into fixed-size chunks small enough to email. Everything happens inside this page on your own device — no upload, no account, and no watermark on the result.
There are three ways to split, because "split a PDF" means three different things depending on why you are doing it. Selected pages extracts exactly what you name — type 1-3, 7, 11-14 and get one document containing those pages in that order. One file per page explodes the whole document, which is what you want for a batch of scanned receipts. Fixed-size groups cuts it into consecutive blocks of whatever length you set.
The page count is read as soon as you add a file and shown next to the range box, so a range that runs past the end of the document is caught while you are typing it rather than after you press the button. Ranges are inclusive at both ends, overlapping ones are merged rather than duplicating pages, and a range typed backwards is read as the range you meant.
Each extracted page keeps its own fonts, images and annotations, so the pieces render exactly as they did in the original. Output files are named after the pages they hold — report-pages-4-6.pdf rather than report-2.pdf — which is the difference between a folder you can use and one you have to open file by file.
How to use the Split PDF
-
Add your PDF
Drop the file onto the box or click to choose it. Its page count appears next to the range box as soon as it has been read.
-
Choose how to split
Selected pages extracts what you name. One file per page explodes the document completely. Fixed-size groups cuts it into consecutive blocks.
-
Name the pages you want
For a selection, type page numbers and ranges separated by commas — 1-3, 7, 11-14. Ranges include both ends, and overlapping ones are merged automatically.
-
Split and download
Press Split PDF. Each result is named after the pages it contains, and Download all saves the whole set at once.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The document is read and rebuilt inside your browser on your own device, and no file is ever sent anywhere. You can disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded and the tool will keep working, which is the easiest way to verify it for yourself.
How do I write the page range?
Use page numbers and ranges separated by commas, like 1-3, 7, 11-14. Both ends of a range are included, so 1-3 gives you three pages. Overlapping ranges are merged rather than duplicating pages, and a range typed backwards such as 9-4 is read as pages 4 to 9.
What is the difference between the three split modes?
Selected pages produces one document containing exactly the pages you name, which is what you want for extracting a section. One file per page produces a separate document for every page, which suits a batch of scanned receipts. Fixed-size groups cuts the document into consecutive blocks of a length you choose, which is the usual way to get a large file under an email size limit.
Will splitting reduce the quality of my pages?
No. Pages are copied across intact rather than re-rendered, so text stays selectable, images keep their original resolution and nothing is re-compressed. A split page is byte-for-byte the same content it was inside the original document.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not directly, because an encrypted document has to be decrypted before its pages can be copied. Remove the password first with our Unlock PDF tool, then split the result. The tool tells you plainly when a file is protected rather than failing without an explanation.
How large a PDF can I split?
Up to 500 MB, though the practical limit is your own device rather than any server rule, since the document is held in memory while it is rebuilt. Splitting a very large file into hundreds of pieces is more demanding than extracting a few pages, so a phone may manage the second comfortably and struggle with the first.
